When the Veil is Thin: A Time to Remember, Reflect, and Renew
“There is no separation between you and those who came before you—only layers of remembering.”

As we move through this time of year, many cultures and spiritual traditions speak of the veil being thin — that subtle boundary between the physical and spiritual realms softening, allowing energy, intuition, and ancestral presence to be felt more vividly.
This isn’t just poetic language. Energetically, this season invites stillness, remembrance, and deeper connection. The Earth herself mirrors this rhythm — trees shedding their leaves, animals retreating, nature conserving her energy. Just as the natural world turns inward, so too are we called to pause, reflect, and tend to our inner landscapes.
What It Means When the Veil Is Thin
When the veil thins, our capacity to feel beyond the visible expands. Dreams may become more vivid. Intuitive nudges may arrive faster. Emotions — even those we thought we’d long released — can resurface seeking closure.
This is not a time to fear what arises but to honor it. The ancestors, our spirit guides, and even our higher selves often use this time to whisper wisdom, healing, and guidance. You may notice patterns, synchronicities, or familiar sensations that remind you that you’re never walking this path alone.
A Simple Practice to Honor the Season
You don’t need a full altar or complex ritual to engage with this energy. The most potent work often begins with intention and presence.
Here’s a simple practice you can do anytime this week:
1. Create Sacred Space.
Find a quiet spot. Light a candle or place a glass of water before you. Take three deep breaths and call your energy fully into the present moment.
2. Invite the Energy of the Season.
Say softly:
“As the veil thins, I open my heart to remembrance.
I welcome wisdom, healing, and peace from those who walked before me.
May only that which is aligned with my highest good enter this space.”
3. Reflect and Remember.
Spend a few moments thinking of an ancestor, mentor, or loved one who embodies strength, love, or resilience. Speak their name aloud. Thank them for what they gave, whether through their example or their lessons.
4. Listen and Receive.
Close your eyes. Allow any messages, images, or sensations to flow. Trust that you’re being guided and supported. You may want to journal what comes through — even if it’s just a word or feeling.
5. Offer Gratitude.
End your time by saying:
“Thank you for walking with me. May your wisdom live through my actions and my love.”
If possible, let the candle burn out or snuff the candle out (follow fire safety protocols). Return the water to the earth.
A Season of Reflection and Renewal
This is a threshold moment — a season between worlds. It invites us to honor what has passed while preparing for what is yet to come. As you move through the coming days, notice what you feel pulled to release, to heal, or to remember.
The ancestors rejoice when we live fully. Take the wisdom of their lives and use it to create freedom in yours.
So, as we capitalize on the season of the softened veil, allow yourself to feel the connection. Let this be a season not just of remembrance, but of renewal — where you embody the truth that you are the living altar, carrying their prayers forward.
